Week 9

Hi to everyone,
What a wonderful week end we've had weather-wise. Let's hope we get a few more days of warm and sunny weather to finish the term.
We begin our swimming lessons this week. Bussing daily to Papanui and back.
We are completing our music and carbon footprint units of work this week. I have been most impressed with the comparative essays the students are writing for the music unit. The class has also produced some excellent poetry which if they haven't brought home a copy for you to read, comme and read them on our classroom wall. They are impressive.
Please continue to encourage your children to use Mathletics regularly. This site is one of the best to support your child's Maths learning and reinforcement.
Have a great week,
God bless
Kathleen Bradley.

Back in our own classroom again

Week six sees us back in our own classroom with all the safety measures in place. It's great to know that your children's health and safety is a priority for our proprietors.
The students are taking a close interest in our topic 'carbon footprint'. We have been discussing global warming which has resulted by the unprecedented CO2 emissions into our earth's atmosphere. When we were discussing our family car's impact in this theory I asked the students to consider the inconvenience to our family life if we were ordered to reduced the number of cars each family owned to one and on top of that were only permitted to drive that car three days a week. Several families said they could cope using public transport, bikes and walking but most considered it would be a huge inconvenience.
I hope the room 5 students are remembering to talk about Lent and what it means to them this month. Please encourage your children to talk about what goes on in our prayer time and R E lessons. I am so often amazed by the maturity and depth of thinking that these young adults are capable of. Maria's thought on death; 'It's really just the beginning of our real life isn't it!'
Have a wonderful week. Enjoy your beautiful children and take some well earned time out for yourselves.
God Bless
Kathleen Bradley
