Aaron Orangi - New Zealand Olympic Ambassador - Four-Man Bobsleigh

We had an exciting and inspiring visit from Aaron Orangi, who qualified as one of five bobsleigh racers for the Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy in 2006. He lives in Darfield and owns Darfield pharmacy where he works as pharmacist. In 2013, Aaron was named a New Zealand Olympic Ambassador for the New Zealand Olympic Committee.

Aaron gave us an introduction of of his life until he began competing in bobsleigh in his early 30's.

He explained the Olympic flag.

He showed us a few scenes from the movie "Cool Running" and the gear he used for bobsleigh or tobogganing such as the high-tech helmet with visors, bodysuit, synthetic shoes with spikes, leather gloves and special singlet ideal for the very cold condition.

This is a bobsled made up of of fiberglass, the only one of its kind in New Zealand.

We sure had a lot of fun on the bobsled. We were grateful for Aaron's wonderful visit.
